The Cotswold Hall is an important part of the history of the town. In 1886 Mrs Elizabeth Stephenson of London, kindly donated a house - plus the money for its modification, decoration and furnishings - and the Northleach Institute and Reading Room were opened. The date for this must have been 1894 judging by the plaque. Nowadays the building is run as a community centre.
