This is the part of the facade of Skelton's Sheaf Bank Works ... the interior has long gone and a Business Park now established. Part of the factory name - Skelton & Co - and what they manufactured - Spades, Shovels and other such implements - is still visible under the top windows, and would have been there since 1851 when the factory opened. The graffiti is much newer... will this stand the ravages of time to the same degree? The path in front of the building is part the ancient Cutler's Walk and leads from the Heeley area, around the factory, across the River Sheaf on a nearby footbridge, under the Railway Lines (on the right but not shown) and thence to Sheffield itself.
