A not uncommon name for a public house and the sign has an appropriate illustration. The black band at the bottom almost certainly obliterates the name Morlands, the former Abingdon based brewers whose business was taken over by Greene King in 2000, with the brewing transferred to Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk. The pub is now a free house and sells real ales by local independent breweries. The Union Jack flag was probably being flown as part of the celebrations for the Diamond Jubilee of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II. Image Image Image
