At the August 2012 date of this view across Ynysmeurig Road, a new school is being built. The site was previously occupied by Abercynon Infants School, which was demolished in early 2012 to make way for the new school, scheduled to open in September 2013. The cost of the project is £11.4 million, of which £8 million is being funded by the Welsh Government.
