Eldon Square Bus Station is one of two in the city centre and is mainly served by routes to the west and south of the city. The bus station was built as part of the modernisation of Eldon Square Shopping Centre allowing the old bus station which was underneath the centre to be converted into a new mall space. The lower of the two bridges connecting the "Spiral" car park with the main Eldon Square allows pedestrians to access the large John Lewis store, whilst the higher bridge allows cars access to the roof top car park.
