The inscription is to three members of the Kent Air Ambulance Service who were killed near this spot in July 1998. On previous occasions visiting this spot I had not seen any flowers but as my visit this time was less than a week after the 14th anniversary, that is probably the reason. The North Downs Way passes here and gives some of the best views to be had along the route.
