The yard tells us the present kirk was by no means the first church on the site and this is one of the earliest Christian sites in Scotland. St. Cedd opened a Christian Mission at Logierait (or Logie Maheed) in 650AD. This is one of the most interesting graveyards in Perthshire and contains an ancient Celtic slab, a wonderful Adam and Eve stone and atmospheric mortsafes or graveguards designed to protect freshly buried corpses from the hands of body snatchers who stole freshly dead bodies for doctors keen to study them in the name of medical science.
