Former gateway to 'The Beach'

Looking across Mersey Road towards the stone entrance to what was once a large house called 'The Beach'. The house is shown on the 1912 O.S. map, but has disappeared by 1927. Today the grounds seem to be open to the public, although I did not walk through them. A little further up the road there is a less grand, blocked gateway that would have accessed the rear of the house - Image
