Netherthorpe (Thorpe Salvin) aerodrome has the UK's shortest licensed runway. It has been a civil aerodrome since 1935, though Lysanders (short take-off and landing aircraft) from 613 Squadron were based there in 1940 (i.e. during WW2). It is the home of the Sheffield Aeroclub and of Phoenix Aviation (note the logo on the Cessna's tail). A footpath runs past the bottom of the runway, in front of Top Farm.
