Today, Saturday July 21st 2012, a wide variety of Italian food is on sale in stalls in and alongside the market hall. The building dates from 1738. Although George II was the monarch at that time, the statue between the upper floor windows is of Queen Anne, who died in 1714. The building was Grade II* listed in June 1952.
