This former public house is located on the corner of Grove Street and Stirlings Road. It has been converted into residential accommodation. Not to be confused, as some online pub & restaurant sites do, with the Wheatsheaf Inn at Chapel Square in the village of East Hendred, near Wantage. That pub is very much alive and kicking. The pub in Grove Street was still trading in 1962. From information kindly supplied by someone who lived there as a child, it appears it was tied to the former H & G Simonds brewery at Reading, Berkshire. Image Image
