One of several houses now owned by the Suffolk brewers Greene King of Bury. St. Edmunds. In 2000 they took over the brewing business of Morland & Co of Abingdon, and with this purchase acquired several Wantage public houses. The Morland beers are now brewed in Bury St. Edminds. The pub's name no doubt derives from the fact that Morland's brewery was in Abingdon. The sign bears some resemblance to part of the coat of arms for the town of Abingdon except that on the coat of arms the colour blue is green. Image Image
