Frances Gawthrop, having handed over the Olympic Flame to Mike Clark, holds her Olympic Torch. Frances's nomination story: I would like to nominate Frances as a torchbearer. Frances is a very caring, thoughtful person who always puts others before herself. She inspires and encourages me and others in our daily lives to be better people. Frances works tirelessly within the local Methodist church as a - Pastoral Visitor caring for members of the congregation -running the weekly Toddler Group -Sunday School teacher preparing lessons for all age children -arranging the flowers -Church Steward ensuring the congregation's needs are met, inspiring and encouraging members of the congregation and leading the church forward. Frances also works voluntarily as Trustee and Treasurer for the Ehlers-Danlos Support UK, a registered charity. She is employed as Research Director for Tozer Seeds Ltd, a vegetable seed and plant breeding company. Frances does all this despite often being in pain and needing to use a wheelchair due to the fact that she has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
