Burning the soil

Not a method I've seen before. The fuel from the tank on the front is being burnt to singe the soil. This is presumably a weed control technique as it is unlikely to penetrate far enough into the soil to kill many pests. No chemicals added to the soil so counts as organic. This area is used to grow a variety of vegetables.
