A corner and driveway of what is now known as "The Old Rectory Museum" off Rectory Place, premises that are owned by the Borough Council. The ground floor of this 14th century structure is thought to have been the kitchen of the original rectory and the first floor, the cleric's accommodation. Later on an immense two-storey rectory was built on the now-grassed area beyond the ruins that are just visible. However, the Victorian extension to the rectory was demolished in 1962. The left-hand red brick building across the road, just visible through the trees, is the original home of the former Girls' High School (1850). Chesterton House was one of the first such schools in England and now a privately owned property.
