This is a replica of a de Havilland Dragon Rapide aircraft, displayed outside the (at the time) Marriott Hotel. It is a replica of an actual aircraft that operated from Speke Airport in the 1950s, carrying perishable vegetables from Ireland. Since the photograph was taken, the hotel has changed ownership (it is now the 'Crowne Plaza Liverpool John Lennon Airport', and the replica plane has been repainted in new colours, as can be seen in Image
