Beyond the western end of the Town Hall, outside which this bus is seen, Ilkeston town centre abruptly ends and a surprisingly leafy area of housing begins. The 27 is one of the few routes operated by TrentBarton that has no special name or branding; it links Ilkeston with Kimberley via Awsworth, and extends beyond the town centres at both ends to serve housing estates.
