A southbound Voyager heads non stop though Moorthorpe station having come off the line from Wakefield and Leeds on the left and is now bound for Sheffield. Straight on north is the SK (Swinton to Knottingley ) route which at one time conveyed lots of coal services but these days is much quieter as the local Pits have all shut. Moorthorpe is served by a local rail service and a number of passengers are awaiting the Sheffield to Leeds stopping service.
