Bewdley and the River Severn in the snow

Looking across towards Bewdley from Wribbenhall with ice-flows on the River Severn during a particularly cold spell in 1981. The bridge built by Thomas Telford in 1798 can be seen to the right. It was erected to replace the 1483 medieval bridge, the remaining abutment of which can be seen projecting from the far bank and which was swept away in the floods of 1795.
