The Liverpool Road Station was vacated by British Rail in 1975. This station is the world’s oldest surviving passenger railway station; it was one of the original termini of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, the world's first passenger railway which opened in 1830 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liverpool_and_Manchester_Railway . The station buildings are now part of the Museum of Science and Industry.
