This concrete base is all that is left of a former radar station that was built on the cliff top during the Second World War the rest, control room, radar equipment and observation bunker, have been lost to cliff erosion in the intervening years. An engine room, transformer and a couple of domestic buildings were used after the war by the Ministry of Technology as a communications test site that was later passed over to Thorn EMI. The remaining buildings were demolished in 2001 with the transformer now the site of an electricity substation.
