Looking along the pedestrian Meschede Way towards the tower block, dating from c. 1972, which houses the planning department of the City Council. The large 'Welcome to Coventry' banner is one of several Olympic banners that have appeared recently on tall buildings - some of the Olympic football matches will be played at the Ricoh stadium in the outskirts of the city. The plaque on the wall by the steps commemorates the Junior Technical School which formerly stood on the spot.
