From Colyton Footpath 16 at the edge of the woods on Heathhayne Hill. At this angl, the valley gives a misleading impression of being wooded, though there are plenty of trees. The two prominent farms are Cadhayne (left) and Gittshayne (right); hayne, from the OE "hægen" meaning enclosure, is a very common placename suffix in this valley.
