Walk Mill, Stapleford - gearing

This recently constructed mill uses recycled gearing. The pit wheel, wallower, great spur wheel and one stone nut are visible. The other stone is electrically driven but rarely used as the water is reliable and in use almost on a daily basis for commercial milling. The flour is all handled in food quality plastic fittings and sifted in an enclosed environment to ensure that it is fit for human consuption. The owner has sunk a lot of effort and finance into this modern reconstruction of a traditional mill and is to be commended for his efforts. Admission is free but if you do go, please buy something at the cafe.
