Located on the corner of Dynevor Street and Aberdare Road, this is one of Merthyr's oldest public houses. The year 1795 is shown on the pub sign. According to legend, Dic Penderyn, who was hanged for his part in the 1831 Merthyr Rising, held meetings at the rear of the pub. What is certain is that the Merthyr Chartists held meetings here.
