The surviving riverside frontage of a much larger complex of the old Alston Woollen and Worsted Factory still and standing after a chequered history over 200 years. The site is now a scrapyard. The cousin and namesake of Isaac Holden of Isaac's Tea Trail, made his fortune in textile manufacture and even adopted the name of Alston for his works in Bradford, though there was no connection with this mill.
