The Arriva Trains Wales train is for Bridgend via Pontypridd, Cardiff Central and the Vale of Glamorgan Line. The unit in view is number 150283. Greatly reduced in size after rebuilds in 1974 and 1996, the station now has only this one platform and single-track line, with half-hourly services to and from Cardiff Central on weekdays and Saturdays, on the Merthyr Line. A Tesco Extra and other shops now (2012) occupy most of the former Merthyr High Street station site.
