Greatly reduced in size after rebuilds in 1974 and 1996, the station now has only one platform and this single-track line, with half-hourly services to and from Cardiff Central on weekdays and Saturdays, on the Merthyr Line. A Tesco Extra and other shops now (2012) occupy most of the former Merthyr High Street station site.
