The "Tree of Life" frieze fills a previously blank space above the entrance to the Whitechapel Art Gallery, built in 1901. The artwork is one of the major commissions of the London 2012 Festival, the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad. It was unveiled on 14 June 2012. For a view of the frieze in context see Image] .
