To the left of the farm building is the last fragment of Lethendry Castle, a once proud Grant stronghold. The haughs surrounding the castle witnessed the last battle of the Jacobite-Williamite war of 1689-90 (1 May 1690), and the castle itself was garrisoned by part of the Jacobite army during the battle. The Jacobite army was routed with heavy losses, and the castle garrison was forced to surrender after being surrounded and bombarded with grenades.
