Part of the old ancient route linking Lewes to Newhaven via a series of small villages that line the western side of the Ouse valley. This section actually forms the parish boundary between Southease to the left and Piddinghoe to the right. Formerly the A275 it was downgraded to the C7 when the new Lewes Bypass and Newhaven ring roads pushed port traffic up the newly designated A26 on the eastern side of the valley to avoid the narrow streets of the former.
