The elements of the picture are unexceptional - wide streets, substantial bow-fronted red-brick houses (from the first decade of the 20th century?), good old London plane trees - but they add up to a very distinctive townscape, a little unlike any other London suburb I can think of. The street names - Teignmouth, Dartmouth, Lydford - all have Devonian connections. But then there's Chatsworth Road - so the estate must once have been in the hands of the Dukes of Devonshire.
