It is a local tradition to construct an archway over the footbridge or roadbridge in the centre of the village: similar arches were built for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897 and George V’s Coronation in 1911. This one is to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee.
