From a distance, walkers on the nearby Cateran Trail might well take this to be a sheep enclosure but getting closer it becomes obvious that its stonework is more carefully constructed than that. The wall, I believe, surrounds the burial place of Richard Long, a man who farmed the land around Peathaugh here, breeding Highland cattle being just one of his multifarious interests and activities. http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/obituaries.cfm?id=1270912006
