The high slopes of the Conwy Valley are littered with boulders originally carried by glaciers flowing down side valleys from the peaks of Snowdonia. Now stranded following the melting of the ice they are a reminder of those frigid times and a major source of building material for all the structures in the area, such as the roadside walls here. In the far distance can be seen the lower Conwy Valley and the sea.
