Originating in the 17th C and rebuilt in the next century this building wasn't a pub for the first 150-200 years of its life. Constructed of rendered cob on a brick plinth it also has some 19th C painted brick, all surrounding a timber-frame core and covered by a thatched roof. It is Grade II listed with English Heritage Building ID: 144110. Notwithstanding all that architectural detail the important facts are as follows: friendly welcome; good service; delicious food and well kept beer.
