If you like your pubs old-fashioned, this one will suit you down to the ground. Although Rockbourne is very much a gentrified village, the pub interior doesn't appear to have changed much since the days when the customers were farm labourers - for instance, there aren't many pubs these days which still have a flag-stone floor. And notice the brewers' name - Strong's - over the door, commemorating the Romsey brewery which was absorbed by Whitbreads in 1969. Altogether, the place seems to double-up as something like a village museum.
