Over much of southern England May 22nd was the warmest day thus far in 2012 - in great contrast to the previous six or seven weeks, which had been unusually chilly and wet. Sunlight was intense, and by 4.20pm - when I took this photo - the temperature had reached about 25C. The sheep were not the only ones grateful for the shade of an oak tree. The buildings in the middle distance are at Robins Farm.
