The original "carriage entrance" to the estate is not now in regular use (tourists enter through the gate by the parish church, and vehicles off the main road to the west of the town). The 18th century gates, together with the lodge (off to the left of the photo) and walls, are grade 2* listed (List Entry Number 1266060). On top of the piers are "trophies and helmets, the work of V Prost of Dijon."
