Opened as the Dudley Hippodrome in 1938 on the site of the Opera House, destroyed by fire in 1936. Among the celebrities who performed here were Bob Hope, George Formby, Laurel and Hardy and Morecambe and Wise. The building's uses after the Hippodrome closed down included as a bingo hall. The now empty building has been compulsorily purchased by Dudley Council. A local newspaper reported in February 2012 that it may be demolished as part of the redevelopment of this area of Dudley.
