The bridge carries the London-Bognor Regis railway line over the A283. The semaphore signal seen to the right of the bridge is the down starter from Pulborough station, due to be replaced by colour lights http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sussex_Route_Utilisation_Strategy
