When built, in 1902, the fire station building consisted of the doorway at the centre and the three bays to the right. The three bays to the left were added at a later date but you can't see the join. It served Coventry until replaced by the current central fire station on Radford Road in 1976 ( http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/392139 ). It was later converted to restaurant/bars with varying degrees of success. Above the central door and first floor bay window is the former Coventry coat of arms of elephant and castle surmounted by a cat-a-mountain. The ice cream van was doing a brisk trade on a hot Saturday afternoon.
