A North Somerset Council notice on the entrance gate http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2961813 post shows that neither horses nor motor vehicles have right of way ahead. Someone, perhaps a disgruntled horse rider, has abandoned a pink-soled wellington boot on the gate.
