Grade II* listed Village Cross, Congresbury

The cross is in the centre of the junction of Broad Street, High Street, Station Road and Bristol Road. The limestone cross was erected in the 15th century. The four octagonal tiers of steps seen here were originally six tiers. The bottom two were buried when the road level was raised - presumably at a time before it was designated a Scheduled Monument! It is also Grade II* listed, awarded in February 1961.
