According to an inscribed stone by the side of this walk it was the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust's project to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. It was opened by the Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire, Charles Mortimer Tollemache Ryland-Smith Esq. J.P.
