View southward, towards Didcot, Reading and London: ex-GW West Midlands main lines. The 12.44 to Fairford is standing in the bay at the north end of the Down platform, with Collett '7400' class (auto-fitted but not in use) 0-6-0PT No. 7412 (built 12/36, withdrawn 7/63). The branch to Fairford turned off the Worcester line at Yarnton (about 3½ miles from Oxford) and this service was soon to end (6/62) but remained open for goods as far as Witney for a few more years.
