Sheldon has one of the just three medieval churches in Birmingham, the sandstone-built St Giles. There have been several churches on this site, this one being built in 1294. The tower was added in 1460, and is now under scaffolding, while money is raised for repairs - see http://www.stgilessheldon.org/tower.php . All the graves in this part of the churchyard are from the 1900s.
