This piece of street furniture has been around for a long time and is showing it ... according to the British Listed Buildings website it is from c1875 and was erected in memory of James Montgomery, journalist and hymnologist. It is part fountain and part lamp ... although the lamp at the top is now missing. A picture of the full memorial, including lamp, is shown in the 'More Images of Sheffield' book.
