Atherton Cemetery is on Leigh Road between Atherton town centre and Howe Bridge. The first burial at the cemetery was in February 1857. There are two mortuary chapels in the cemetery. The Nonconformist chapel is the one in the picture; the Church of England chapel is to the right, behind the trees. Both chapels are now disused. http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Atherton/cemetery/index.html - Memorial Inscriptions at Atherton Cemetery
