The bankside path passes some dumped rubbish on the way to Bigsweir Bridge. We enjoyed our picnic but you would not catch me swimming in that navigable waterway if paid. (The no boating bit probably refers to launching which can be prevented). Navigation on the below Bigsweir is controlled by the Gloucester Harbour Trustees, and upstream the Lugg is a legal waterway as far as Presteinge, but sadly only as far up as Hay on the main river.
